Idan Sharabi Dance was founded in fall 2012 as Idan Sharabi & Dancers. After dancing in NDT and Batsheva Dance Company, Juilliard Alumni, Sharabi, gathered a group of artists in Israel, creating Joni Solos Series. The group toured Sweden with the work and then premiered 3Works in Tel Aviv and Adar in Copenhagen. In fall 2013, the group received support from The Israel Festival & Ministry of Culture to premier Nishbar in Curtain Up Fest, which was chosen for the International Exposure Fest 13’. In the 14‘-15’ season, Sharabi Dance toured Israel and Europe, premiering Makom in “Chutzpah! Festival”, Vancouver, in Korzo Theater, Den Haag and in The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Later, they performed for The Italian Dance Alliance in Rome and won the 1st Prize for Choreography in both CICC7, in Denmark and Hannover International Choreography Competition, in Germany.

In summer 2014, they premiered We Men at the Russian ‘Open Look Festival’ and later won the Israeli Minister of Culture Award for “Best Performance 2014”. In the fall, the group was supported by Machol Shalem Fest to create Interviews, and was granted the investment by Polyphony Productions to create Scheherezade, an orchestral collaboration with conductor Gil Shochat. This work was dedicated to the former Israeli president, Mr. Peres, who attended the performance and gave his blessing to the company. Later that season, the group collaborated with Corpus & The Royal Danish Theater, and then premiered a new live piano show in Israel called Schocat Sharabi Chopin. Following, the company presented its full program Interviews/Makom in Chutzpah! 15’ (Canada) and The Solis Theater Montevideo (Uruguay).

In summer 2015, the company toured to CICC8 Gala & Copenhagen Summer Dance 15’, The Vignale Monferrato Festival (Torino) and The Sziget Festival (Budapest). After that they were invited to numerous festivals: Gender Bender (Bologna), Dance Umbrella in Sadler’s Wells LB Studio (London), National Arts Centre (Ottowa), La Villette (Paris) and The Fringe Festival (Israel). In 2016, Sharabi & the group created Now, a new work shared in intimate spaces that introduces a mechanism of creation in the present moment. This work was performed in Israel as well as “Inequilibrio Festival” in Toscana (Italy), “Israeli Spotlight” of the CICF (Toronto) and several showings in NYC and Nashville (USA). Currently, the group is invited to perform in New York’s “Out Of Israel” (as a part of APAP) and “Excognito Festival” in Brooklyn.
